The Israeli Andalusian Orchestra Ashdod
The Sounds of Africa – From Morocco to Ethiopia
Conductor: Sivan Albo Ben-Hur
Artistic Direction: Elad Levy
Participants: Aziz Ozouss (Morocco – rebab-soussi and lothar), Omri Mor (piano) and Abate Berihun (saxophone and vocals)
This unique musical summit brings together three gifted musicians representing an exceptional range of North African sounds - from Morocco and Algeria in the West to Ethiopia in the East.
Aziz Ozouss, an international artist from Morocco, a rebab-soussi player, and singer, will bring along the sounds of the Amazigh and Berber tribes of the Sahara Desert and meet Omri Mor – a multidisciplinary pianist and musician who has gained international recognition and whose music fuzes Andalusian music from Algeria with jazz. The two will be joined by Abate Berihun, who'll take us to the continent's East Coast - to the sacred singing and playing of Ethiopian Jews.
