Dzigan and Schumacher – A Vitz Mit A Shpitz
Yiddishpiel Theater
A musical salute accompanied by an orchestra conducted by Gilad Katz
Texts and direction: Moti Giladi
Musical Director: Gilad Katz
Cast: Moti Giladi, Andrei Kashker and Dorin Giladi
The Yiddish phrase "A vitz mit a shpitz," meaning "A joke with a tip," or "A jest with a crest," echoes Charlie Chaplin's famous saying, "A day without laughter is a day wasted."
The comedian duo slides down from Heavenly Spheres to Mother Earth. They've struck a deal with the LORD's CEO and got a four-hour pass. With their unique humor and Łódź lingo, they describe the inhabitants of the Upper World clashing with those of our meshugge Nether World. Their vocation is to put a smile on the faces of Zion dwellers, especially these days. They perform choice sketches, such as "Einstein Weinstein," "The Hitchhiker," "The Plumber," "Vacation in Tiberias," and new skits as well. Their act is commended on stage by impersonated personalities such as "Shimon Peres," "Leonard Cohen," "Shaike Ophir," "Louis Armstrong," and "Elvis Presley."
